Apsu

Apsu (also spelled Abzu) is a primordial deity in Mesopotamian mythology representing the freshwater ocean beneath the earth. He is a fundamental cosmic force in creation mythology, paired with Tiamat, the saltwater ocean.

Origins

Apsu is one of the earliest cosmic entities in Mesopotamian cosmology. He represents the underground freshwater abyss from which all life, wisdom, and divine order emerge.
